STAMPS School of Art and Design
International Initiative Donor Gift
Book design and illustrations for the University of Michigan STAMPS School of Art and Design
The University of Michigan STAMPS School of Art and Design wanted a custom book gift to give to one of their donors as a thank you for all the help she has provided to the school. Her gifts contributed to the enrichment of the school’s faculty members so this book was meant to showcase how each faculty member has been impacted. Maps were included to help show where each faculty member traveled to for artistic exploration.
It was important that the design of this book not only showcase the faculty but also feel custom and special to the donor. While designing this book I wanted to make sure that watercolor elements were added in because the donor herself is a watercolor artist and took watercolor courses at the school. The book includes custom collage illustrations that brought together elements from each faculty’s artwork. These collages are seen on the front cover, inside welcome page, and back cover. It was crucial that this book also follow the University of Michigan branding so brand colors and typography were used to give this book a University of Michigan branded feel.

We presented the book to Ann last night, and she absolutely loved it! She was so moved by the collage on the front that she cried. She also really enjoyed seeing all the profiles, the map, and the list of places our faculty have visited. I don’t think she fully realized just how much of an impact her gift had on our school, so seeing it represented on the map page was especially meaningful to her. Thank you for your incredible work on this project and for putting so much care and detail into every piece of the book - It meant so much to us to be able to give Ann a true work of art!" |
